Caple Jr. Will Now Direct

The story goes back to Rocky 4 where Dolph Lundgren played the role of Drago. Jordan will also return as Adonis Creed. There's already fan speculation that Lesnar could play the role of Ivan Drago's son, but nothing is official.

MGM and Warner Bros. have chosen newcomer Steven Caple direct Creed 2, the direct sequel to the 2015 sports drama based on Sylvester Stallone's Rocky franchise.

In a statement revealed by Entertainment Weekly, Stallone announce that the new ringmaster would be Steven Caple Jr., who will direct from a script co-written by Sly and Luke Cage showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker.

Sources said Stallone considered directing Creed 2, but after talking it over with Jordan and executives, they made a decision to find a new director. Ryan Coogler, who directed Creed and has finished directing Black Panther, may join the project as an executive producer, although he has not signed onto the project as of yet.

Could the next installment of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky franchise be called "Brocky?"

The 71-year-old star took to Instagram to confirm he has handed over the helming reins to Steven Caple Jr. on the forthcoming film because he thinks the "Land" filmmaker is more in touch with "this generation".

He wrote: "Looking forward to directing and Producing The incredibly talented Michael B Jordan in CREED 2 next year".

"The character of Adonis Creed reflects this generation and its challenges".

Caple won praise for his indie film The Land, which generated interest after screening at Sundance in 2016.

Creed, which was actually released Stateside in late 2015, was one of the movies which sat at the top of many folks' best of the year lists, and even though the United Kingdom got the film in January 2016, the same was the case over here.
