Making sense of the Eagles' decision to extend Alshon Jeffery

On Saturday they decided to make a bigger commitment to Jeffery by signing the wideout to a four-year extension that is worth a reported $52 million.

The timing couldn't be better for the Eagles as Jeffery is finally starting to heat up.

The St. Matthews, S.C. native, who played his college football at the University of SC, was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round (45th pick overall) of the 2012 NFL Draft. Originally signed to a four-year contract, in 2016, Jeffery was given a franchise tag, binding him to the Bears for an extra year in 2016.

The 6-foot-3, 218-pounder enters Sunday's game at Seattle ranked second on the team with 43 receptions for 619 yards and is tied with tight end Zach Ertz and wide receiver Nelson Agholor for the team lead in touchdowns with seven.

"I love it here", Jeffery said in a statement issued by the team.

Players are looking at this Eagles team and the opportunity to play with a budding star such as Wentz and signing on the dotted line when they can.
