Google bans Android apps that sneak in ads on your phone's lockscreen

Now as we know 2017 is coming to an end, Google has shared a list of apps on Play Store.

If you are into Android field for quite a long time then Datally may not seem an exciting fact to you. You could comb through your phone's stats and see which app is using the bulk of your data plan, or you could install Datally, Google's new data management app.

Tests of the app in the Philippines had shown that Datally could help save users up to 30 per cent on their data, Google said. While Google did not specify how many downloads the game garnered, Nintendo said separately that the game has racked up over 200 million downloads across iOS and Android since launch in December 2016.

The practice of shoehorning apps into the apps has been an issue for many Android users as increased developers try to trick the users into clicking ads displayed on the lock screen and these ads are often not related to the app in which the ads appear.

Android: Whether they're front and centre or lurking behind the scenes, almost every app is taking a nibble (or a huge bite) out of your mobile data.

The app helps users keep tabs on their data usage, broken down by the hour of the day, or segregated by apps. Over time, Datally will learn your usage patterns and offer more recommendations to save data. It will also be recommending ways in cutting down the data usage that's based on your usage activity and will suggest you nearby connections on Wi-Fi for your phone to be connected.

Secondly, it also help users block background data usage and track real-time data usage while using each of the apps.

And lastly, Datally also tells users if they are near public Wi-Fi so that they can save on data.

For 2017, Google named homework helper "Socratic" as the best app for the year.

Google said their move to come up with the Datally app is the outcome of a research conducted word wide to find out more about the way people went about using their Android phones.

Users simply have to take a photo of their homework and upload it to the app.
