The New Ready Player One Trailer Introduces The Players, More 80s References

Warner Bros. has released the official trailer for Steven Spielberg's "Ready Player One," and it offers short glimpses of many familiar faces, such as Tracer, Lara Croft, and Chun-Li.

The preview released Sunday teases more of the central story, which is that of a virtual reality world and the power struggle to control it. The latest video sheds some more light on the film's plot where one hero tries to save the (VR) world from an evil corporation.

Ernest Cline, the author of the 2011 sci-fi novel, 'Ready Player One, ' who also wrote the script for the story's film adaptation, will discuss the book and movie during a special live stream event on Facebook.

Ready Player One hits theaters on March 30th, 2018. There are so many wonderful things coming out of the comic book world, with new projects seemingly announced every day, so this is just a quick rundown of the five things that excite my inner fanboy.

Based on Cline's best-selling novel, the film follows Wade Watts (Tye Sheridan), an ace gamer who lives in a dystopian OH in 2045. As the new trailer reveals, upon learning that the game's mysterious creator, James Halliday, has died and hidden his fortune somewhere inside the game, Watts goes head-to-head with a number of other players in a race to decipher the riddles and find Halliday's treasure before others can.

In the film, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg, Tye Sheridan plays Watts, while Olivia Cooke plays Art3mis and Ben Mendelsohn plays Nolan Sorrento, the story's villain. Based on Ernest Cline's novel, the screenplay is by Cline, Zak Penn and Eric Eason.
