Kohli calls Kuldeep, Chahal as `brave bowlers`

Chahal and Yadav have been at their imperious best, snaring 21 wickets between them in three matches so far. Of the 27 wickets that have fallen to bowlers, Yuzvendra Chahal has taken 11 wickets while Kuldeep Yadav has 10.

"We (team management) want to rotate players to keep them nice and fresh". Even in the momentum One Day Cup, South Africa's domestic 50-over competition, the leading wicket-taker this season has been a wrist spinner - Shamsi with 26 scalps in nine matches. "It is not that Ashwin and Jadeja are out of the race, they could still be in the team".

Not only have Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav wrecked the backbone of South Africa's batting with frequent wickets (one in every 15 balls) but have done it at an awesome economy of 3.63 and an average of 9.05. These two bowlers showed a lot of promise and we thought that in these conditions wrist spinners would do a lot more than the finger spinners. We are going to identify with the culture and be a part of this country. We've not been good enough.

Arun acknowledged that newcomers Kuldeep and Chahal have done exceptionally well because wrist spinners do not rely overtly on pitches and conditions."They are extremely positive. In these conditions now and we are going to play the World Cup away from home, that I think is going to be the massive X-factor for us", the skipper added. "As you would understand, the volume of cricket that we are playing, we need to keep rotating those bowlers so that they are fresh for every format", he said. We've got to come up with different ways of countering how good they've been.

"The series is not lost yet and that should be a big enough motivator for us". Once you become comfortable with picking their deliveries, that's when you can play with confidence and ease and freedom.

Chahal and Kuldeep are enjoying sucess after success in 50-over and 20-over formats at the global level. Both have looked for wickets and got them by beating batsmen in the air and with guile, rather than by strangling them and using the limit on the number of overs to create scoreboard pressure and draw rash shots.

Chahal and Kuldeep have dominated with the ball for India in limited overs cricket, so much so that they have kept Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who are India's go-to spinners in Tests, out of the side.

Kohli preferred to keep the question of Test selection for the future, but agreed that both his star bowlers had certainly pushed their case forward. It's outstanding to see two guys just totally spinning a web around the opposition.

"I don't have words to explain this", Kohli was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. Credit to them. Both are very courageous in terms of how they bowl and the kind of fields they want as well. Both have been working hard on their game.

Barring Faf du Plessis (who played in a single game and made a fighting hundred), Hashim Amla (who never faced either Kuldeep or Chahal in this series) and Tabraiz Shamsi (who faced just a single ball in this series), all the other South African players (12 of them) have fallen at least once to either Chahal or Kuldeep in this series.

"The two spinners have been outstanding in the ODIs". Except if you are a South African batsman of course.
