Olympic 2018 Medal Count: Updated Country Tally After Friday Morning

The country long ago locked up first place at these Games; with a 10-medal lead and just two days of events to go, it's a sure thing that Norway will beat out Canada and Germany for first place.

Canada was the most successful country in terms of medal haul, landing one of each thanks to a 1-2 finish in women's ski cross and a bronze in figure skating.

In recent Olympics, the United States has typically been at or near the top of the medal standings at this point in the competition.

Four-time Olympian and World Cup champion Vonn, 33, won bronze in the women's downhill skiing competition on Wednesday, February 21, becoming the oldest female Alpine skiing medalist in Olympic history.

On Sunday, the final Olympic events - including women's individual figure skating and the gold medal games for both women's curling and men's hockey, to name only a few - take place throughout the day.

The Netherlands' perennial dominance of speedskating continued, with Kjeld Nuis winning gold in the 1,000-meter race, his second victory in Pyeongchang along with the 1,500-meters.

The Dutch have claimed 14 of 36 speedskating medals, including seven of 12 golds. She also helps continue Team USA's streak as the only nation to medal at every Games since women's bobsled became an Olympic sport in 2002.

And with that, she set off to prepare for yet another special moment - her sights set on an eighth gold on 25 February.

Some say this drop off should come with some concern, others will say we shouldn't focus on how many medals we win, but instead celebrating those who have won.

Team USA added a couple of medals to its running total at the 2018 Winter Olympics, with Jamie Anderson's silver in the inaugural women's big air event on Thursday in South Korea being the latest.

Bjoergen made her Olympic debut - and won her first medal (a silver in the 4x5km relay) way back in 2002 in Salt Lake City. The U.S.is now on pace to win its fewest number of medals in a single Olympics since it won 13 in the 1998 Nagano Winter Games.
