Bama, Longhorns agree to play in 2022-23

Alabama and Texas on Wednesday announced a home-and-home series with each other in 2022 and 2023.

A UCF football game at Texas scheduled for September 9, 2023, has been canceled, closing out the agreement between the two schools. Texas reciprocates with a trip to Tuscaloosa on September 9, 2023. In nine previous matchups between the two college football titans, Texas - and not Alabama - holds a decided edge with a 7-1-1 record.

"We are pleased and happy to be able to add an opponent the caliber of the University of Texas to our non-conference schedule", Alabama head coach Nick Saban said.

Texas also announced it had canceled a 2023 home game with Central Florida.

Last month, Alabama announced a future home-and-home series with Notre Dame for the 2028-29 seasons, with the Tide traveling to South Bend, Indiana on September 2, 2028, and the Fighting Irish coming to Tuscaloosa on September 1, 2029. "This will certainly be a great opportunity for our program and our fans". The two teams first met in Tuscaloosa in 1902.

The Crimson Tide beat the Longhorns in the Rose Bowl to win the 2009 season national championship.
