Scott will play a new role that is folded into the series to fill the shoes of the departed Riggs as Roger Murtaugh's (Damon Wayans) partner.

"Seann is a fantastic addition to this already wonderful cast", said Fox Entertainment president Michael Thorn in the announcement. "Matt Miller, his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we're thrilled to bring this show back for another season".

Crawford's behavior had left Lethal Weapon - one of Fox's better-performing dramas - on the bubble as many connected with the series (including, Wayans, sources note) have said they would rather not work with the actor. The good news? The Fox series has been renewed for a third season.

After being reprimanded following two incidents earlier this year, Crawford is rumoured to have been sacked from the show - although he claims he hasn't been told by his bosses.

Crawford expressed gratitude for his job in an Instagram post last month and apologized for his on-set behavior, which ultimately led to his firing.

Clayne Crawford's future on Lethal Weapon is still up in the air and he's not happy about it.
