The outbreak is linked to Rose Acre Farms, whose eggs were distributed to restaurants or sold at major grocery stores such as Walmart and Food Lion.

More salmonella illnesses are being reported following a voluntary recall of more than 200 million eggs from Rose Acre Farms in Seymour. Virginia and NY have the most number of reported cases with eight each, while Pennsylvania has five cases so far, and North Carolina has five.

According to the FDA, the affected eggs are from plant number P-1065 with the Julian date range of 011 through date of 102 printed on either the side portion or the principal side of the carton or package.

Almost 50 people have been sickened by the contaminated eggs.

The eggs were sold under the following brand names: Country Daybreak, Crystal Farms, Coburn Farms, Sunshine Farms, Glenview, Great Value, as well as Food Lion stores, according to the FDA website.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced recently that 12 more people in five states have become ill from salmonella.

As per the report of the Star, now the Rose Acre Farm has employed a Corporate Sanitation Officer to ensure the hygiene of the place. At the time, the producer added that the move was done in "an abundance of caution" after discovering some sort of contamination at its facility in Hyde County, North Carolina, but this is nevertheless the country's largest egg recall in almost a decade. 11 people have been hospitalized, and no deaths have been reported.
