The proposed tax levy is up by 0.22 percent. For example, seven candidates are competing for three open board seats in the Greenville Central School District. Last year a final agreement wasn't reached until after the school year had started. The total cost includes legal fees, consulting fees, engineering fees and planning services.

Residents across the Hudson Valley are heading to the polls today to vote on school district budgets. He has been a principal in the Schley County School System in Ellaville, Ga., and in Lexington/Richland School District 5 in Irmo. The district has to go to a contingency budget if voters reject a proposed budget a second time. "Our school board has followed a very diligent process to ensure that we can find the right person who will build on our successes and lead us forward".

There are three candidates on the ballot: newcomer Brianne Fadale along with incumbent board members Daniel Johnson and Nina Karbacka. But Susan Binder has opted not to seek re-election.

The Mamaroneck school district is also asking voters to override the tax cap.

Voting will be from 2 to 8 p.m.at the Quogue School. The candidates include Kaitlyn Gambina of Mastic, Danielle Warsaw of Manor Park, Marion Diener of Manorville, Larry Brown Jr. of Manorville, Christine Burst of Eastport and Tara Mazovec of South Manor. Previously she served as vice president of the South Manor Board of Education and spent time as a member of the Eastport South Manor Centralized High School Board of Education.

Only one district, the 645-student Greenport system on the Island's semirural North Fork, is seeking to override its cap limit this year - and it has done so successfully twice before.

The increases under these proposed budgets, though at their highest point for the region in five years, remain tightly regulated by the state's cap restrictions on local taxation. The school board approved the plan during a regular meeting at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy building. An executive session for personnel and student matters is also scheduled.

"The board has asked for additional options, and that will be part of the discussion next week as well".

Voting will be from 2 to 9 p.m.at Rhinebeck High School on North Park Road.

Voters will also consider an $8 million proposition to pay for safety renovations at the three district schools.

The resolution is being submitted to the Board prior to adoption of the 2018-19 budget, and is based on multiple-year projections of the District's fiscal situation. She will be joined on the board by newcomer Jordana Sobey, who will be replacing Stephanie Bitis, who will not be running for reelection.

A drop-in for Hopkins took place Monday. The proposed overall budget is $12,232,212.

The proposed 2018-19 spending plan is $27,894,313, an increase of $489,197, or 1.79 percent over the current budget.

Residents of Watervliet will be able to cast their votes throughout the day on Tuesday at Watervliet Elementary School and the Watervliet Elks Lodge.

Voters in the East Greenbush Central School District will head to the polls from 7 a.m.to 9 p.m.to vote on a proposed budget, which maintains all current programs and services, totals $94.3 million, an increase of 2.29% from a year ago.

Voting will be held in East Quogue Elementary.

Poll watchers will be available to assist anyone who needs instructions on how to cast a write-in ballot.
