Nokia X6 launch today, teaser highlights iPhone X display style

HMD Global, the company that now holds the right to manufacture and sell Nokia phones, had scheduled a launch event in China last month on April 27th. The smartphone also becomes the first from the company to feature the iPhone X-like notch on its display screen.

While the Snapdragon 636 powered variant comes with 6GB RAM and the other variant with MediaTek Helio P60 processor offers 4GB RAM. Dubbed as Nokia X6, the smartphone will go on sale in China from 21st May, for a starting price of 1,299 Yuan, which roughly converts to $204.

Talking about the specifications of the device, the Nokia X6 comes with a 5.8-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 X 2280 pixels and 19:9 aspect ratio. Shielding the display is Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

The Nokia X6 is powered by a Snapdragon 636 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage or 6GB of RAM and 64GB storage.

The Nokia X6 features a dual camera configuration comprising 16MP primary and 5MP monochrome sensor with EIS along with HDR and Bokeh mode. To the front, there's a 16 MP F/2.0 selfie shooter, which comes with AI selfies for background blur & stickers. The OS behind everything is Android 8.1 Oreo and the telephone is guaranteed to get a refresh to Android P. It will be made available in White, Black and Blue colour variants. The style is a first for HMD Global, coming in after numerous Android phones copied the same look. The dual-camera setup will be able to take portrait shots, a feature that has become very popular recently.

The Nokia X6 retains the Bothie feature, prominent in other recent Nokia phones, that lets users use both front and rear cameras simultaneously. We can also see the Nokia branding on the front and rear of the device. There is a 3060 mAh battery in the handset bundled with 18 Watt charger. It comes in either, 4 GB or 6 GB LPDDR4 RAM variants, with 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage. It measures 147.2×70.98×7.99mm (excluding the lens), going up to 8.59mm with the lens, and weighs 151 grams. It includes WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac for connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/AGPS+GLONASS+Beidou as well for connectivity. The onboard storage is 32GB and 64GB depending on the RAM.
