UPDATED 11:38 a.m. ET: It turns out Donald Glover's Lando Calrissian isn't getting his own film after all. At the Cannes Film Festival, Kathleen Kennedy told Premiere France (with a hat tip to ComicBook) that yes, Lucasfilm's thinking has expanded to include the possibility of a Lando Calrissian solo movie.

The publication later adjusted its article with the note: "Lucasfilm informs us that there would have been a misunderstanding between our journalist and Kathleen Kennedy".

"We think that the next spinoff will be dedicated to Lando Calrissian", Kennedy told Premiere in a story published early Wednesday (May 16).

It's led to a lot of people wishing Solo was instead Lando: A Star Wars Story, and fans of the Cloud City chief may well have their wish granted.

Solo doesn't hit theaters for another week, but the next Star Wars spin-off may have already been revealed. The movie is presented as the beginning of a franchise, with much more story left to explore before we meet the character in Star Wars: A New Hope. The decision to explore Lando's story is the right one, and not a surprising one.

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. There's enough smoke generating to know that an Obi-Wan movie is going to happen and likely in 2020 before a Lando Calrissian movie.

So what sort of schedule can we expect if Lando is suddenly next in the pipeline?

As told and re-told by French cinema publication Premiere, Kennedy acknowledged the reality that a Lando movie would be an enjoyable endeavor.

To paraphrase Zoolander's Mugatu, "It's that damn Donald Glover!".
