Investigators say the murder of a former teacher who was gunned down in her mother's driveway in Aliquippa over the weekend was "a crime of passion".

Aliquippa police and the Beaver County district attorney met Tuesday morning to discuss the investigation regarding the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Rachael DelTondo.

"We had a young woman, 33-years-old, shot to death on the driveway of her mother's house on Mother's Day evening", said Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier. DelTondo had been suspended after confidential information was leaked from the police department regarding an encounter between her and an underage student from another school.

The coroner ruled her death a homicide, saying she died of multiple gunshot wounds to her chest.

'I don't know why that happened. When qeustioned by the officer, Deltondo claimed that she was just friends with the student and that they were only talking; police added that she claimed she was only talking with the teen because "he was upset and needed someone to talk to".

No charges were ever filed over the relationship.

The school announced they were suspending her the following month.

Brian Hayden, CEO of Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School, said that because he is a mandatory reporter, he had to notify Pennsylvania Childline when he received the email, even though it was about an incident that had happened almost two years earlier. The report concluded that "Deltondo was advised that there was better places to just talk with a former student", and further stated that the responding officer hoped not to find her in the same predicament again. Childline is part of a mandated statewide child protective services program, which transmits information to appropriate investigative agencies.

Though DelTondo was never charged in the incident, she was suspended in November 2017 after Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School Chief Executive Officer Brian Hayden contacted ChildLine, which "is part of a mandated statewide child protective services program created to accept child abuse referrals and general child well-being concerns, and transmit the information quickly to the appropriate investigating agency", according to the organization's website. But four months later, DelTondo and her fiance called off the wedding.

The unredacted police report is believed to have contained personally identifying information that is not readily available to the public through open records releases, including parties' social security numbers. We express our sympathy to her family, friends, and coworkers.

Earlier a year ago, DelTondo was in the press over a dispute with a bridal shop over her wedding dress.

DelTondo reportedly contacted the bridal shop to tell them that she wanted to pay off the balance on the dress for resale, but she allegedly never received the dress. However, the check never came in the mail, so the family reached out to their local KDKA-TV reporter, Marty Griffin's segment, "Get Marty".

DelTondo reportedly put a $4,600 non-refundable deposit down on the custom dress.
