Fans not happy at possible Martial departure: Better than Rashford

Anthony Martial's agent has got some very bad news for Manchester United fans

Anthony Martial's agent has got some very bad news for Manchester United fans

"After reflecting carefully on all the possibilities and all the parameters, Anthony has decided he wants to leave Manchester United", said Lamboley as quoted on RMC Sport.

Questioned on the reasons, Lamboley added: "There are many reasons for this, for now it is premature to talk about it. Without the great support from the fans, he would have already asked to leave the club".

"Then arrived the transfer window of January".

The 22-year-old, who joined United from Monaco for £36m in September 2015, has found life at Old Trafford increasingly frustrating under José Mourinho, with limited opportunities from the bench.

Martial joined United as a teenager who, at the time, was touted as a potential future Ballon d'Or victor.

However, Mourinho is counting on Martial next season and does not want to sell the Frenchman, according to Sky Sports. He was elected three times players of the month by the fans.

He netted nine goals and provided five assists in the 2017-18 Premier League campaign as United finished second.

"I think he has done his best over the last three years". It appears that Martial has finally given up on his Old Trafford career.

"United wants to extend Anthony's deal and does not want him to leave but we do not find an agreement for several months".

Lamboley went on to explain that contract negotiations had been going on for eight months but no agreement could be reached, which the agent deduced that if they could "not find an agreement in eight months of negotiations, it is that it does not really want to make [Martial] an important player in its workforce". A quiet and unassuming man, the former Lyon youngster is the type of player and indeed individual who needs an arm around him.

Italian champions Juventus have also been mentioned in reports tying Martial to a move away from United.

There is an argument to be made that Martial lacks the character to be a top player, but he is not the type of individual who can dip in and out of matches.

However, The Mirror believe Mourinho will allow Martial to leave if one important condition is met. Kevin de Bruyne and Mohamed Salah are famous examples of where the Portuguese has got it wrong, and history could well be repeating itself once again.
