The effort eventually led the reality TV star to meet with the president and share the story of Johnson, who served 21 years of a life sentence for aiding a multimillion-dollar cocaine ring after losing her job and struggling to support her family.

A photo of Kardashian West and Johnson sitting down for an interview to air on NBC's "Today" show on Thursday was posted to the Facebook page of The Scholl Law Firm, which represents Johnson.

Kim Kardashian and the woman whose cause she took all the way to the White House, Alice Johnson, sat down with NBC's "Today" show for their first joint interview since the reality star helped free the 63-year-old great-grandmother from prison.

"We cried, maybe, on the phone for, like, three minutes straight", an emotional Kardashian West told CNN, recounting her advocacy for Johnson and her role in Trump's decision to grant her clemency.

Kardashian, who has been working on behalf of the grandma for months, was the first person to tell the nonviolent drug offender about her commutation back on June 6 but this will be the duo's first in person encounter.

"No, I'm still doing me", she said. Can we, you know, hire different attorneys?

"To me this has nothing to do with politics, this has to do with people", she said.

"I can't stop. I can't stop", Johnson said. "I can't stop", she said. When she said that I went into full-fledged Pentecostal holy dance. "She was kind of quiet on the phone, and I know her personality enough to know that she would've been screaming or something".

"I plan on continuing to magnify this issue", Johnson said.

In late May, Kardashian West met with President Donald Trump to present the case to him.

While we were outside Kardashian was showing Johnson the ropes on snapchat having fun with filters and at one-point Kardashian said love you Alice and Alice said love you Kim. She said she'd spend the rest of her life thanking Kardashian West and others who helped her. I started reading everything that I could about her. "As soon as I found out who she was, I started getting every magazine I could find", Johnson, who was incarcerated for 22 years, said.
