Salah's Egypt arrive in Russia, ahead of opener against Uruguay

Salah told reporters on Sunday that he expected to play against Uruguay, before he flew to Russian Federation with the rest of the Egyptian squad.

Salah had been a doubt after suffering a shoulder injury in Liverpool's 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26.

He took part in the team training session on Wednesday but did not engage in any pieces of training that involves the ball.

And it was a moment that is unlikely to fill Egyptian fans with confidence that their star man will be fit and ready to go for his nation's World Cup opener against Uruguay on June 15 .

"We have been following the case since his injury in the final of Champions League". However, I can not confirm today that he will play in the first match.

Uruguay goalkeeper Fernando Muslera has expressed hope that Salah will play against the South Americans, saying he wants to play against the best at football's showpiece tournament.

Prior to boarding the flight to Russia, Salah trained for the first time with his Egypt team-mates and seemed in good spirits as a miraculous recovery looked as if it had been achieved.

On May 30, Egypt officials said Salah would be out for "not more" than three weeks, which would rule him out of the Uruguay match but put him in the frame for Russian Federation on June 19 and Saudi Arabia on June 25.
