Golden State Warriors' Kevin Durant celebrates with the trophy after the Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 108-85 in Friday's Game 4 of the NBA Finals to win the NBA championship in Cleveland. The injury might explain that while James was still dominant in the final three games of the series, he hadn't come close to the monster performance in Game 1, where he scored 51 points along with eight rebounds and eight assists.

The 2018 NBA Finals averaged 17.65 million viewers on ABC, which was a 13.5% drop from the 2017 norm of 20.4 million and 2.25 million below the previous Cavs-Warriors low (a 19.9 million average in 2015).

Television ratings for the game itself tells us a story of a general public that largely tuned it out. But he is a nine-time All-Star, has been on seven All-NBA teams, won an MVP and two Finals MVPs. And they have just met in the Finals for the fourth straight year, the first time that has happened in any of the four major North American leagues.

Durant was voted the best player in this series - and he wants to keep growing. Andre Iguodala has three off the bench.

As they have all season, the Warriors used an overwhelming third quarter to clinched the win.

"I had emotions of you just don't get an opportunity like this on the road versus Golden State to be able to get a Game 1, and I let the emotions get the best of me", James said.

"I'm sure it would have been nice for Steph to win the MVP, but honestly, I don't think he's that disappointed", Kerr said. "Whether it's opponents, whether it's different coaches panning for us, whether it's the fans, the media that hate us, it feels good when you're the team that everybody's gunning for".

And should James leave his home region again this summer in free agency — a prospect that seems more likely than not as July 1 nears — they will go down as the team that shoved him toward the exits.

"I had some tough problems going on throughout the course of the season, and I probably could have folded myself, but I wasn't going to do that", he said. "I was there in the Hamptons (at the Durant recruiting session) when we had that discussion".

When it was all over Friday night, there was both an arrogance and a humility to Durant - both understandable. They have a ton of cap room to sign a couple of star players.

Moreover, Durant tallied one steal and three blocks on the defensive end.

If James is going to remain in Cleveland past this summer, improvements - perhaps drastic ones - to the team's roster will need to be made.

Draymond Green added nine points, nine assists and three blocks in the win, which gave Golden State six all-time championships, tying Chicago for the third-most in National Basketball Association history behind Boston (17) and the Los Angeles Lakers (16).

Get out the brooms, we've got a sweep.

In a sense he agreed with some of them, willingly acknowledging he can improve after the Cavs were swept by the Warriors, losing to Golden State for the third time in the past four years despite the presence of LeBron James.
