This week, much has been made of the fact that the Android version of Fortnite will not be available through the Google Play marketplace. With Android 9.0 Pie, you'll get new Swipe Gesture navigation, Rotation suggestion, Adaptive Battery and Adaptive Brightness, Smart replies, App actions, Text selection, Redesigned Quick Setting tiles and Notification Panel, Redesigned Volume Options, Brand new Settings, Privacy, Digital Wellbeings (Dashboard) and Winddown Mode, and more. Interestingly, the company seems to have misspelled the title of the game, referring to it as Fortnite Battle Royal, which is missing the letter E in the word Royale. Thankfully, the Play Store is finally doing something about it. The game will instead be available from Epic's servers cutting Google out completely. Sensor Tower estimates that Apple has made more than $54 million from the game so far via its 30 percent cut of all in-app spending on its store. The latter bit was a direct appeal to gamers and Epic Games' partnership with Samsung will not go down with Google. If the battle royale genre loses steam, it might have trouble getting users to its website to download the game, which requires extra steps and makes updating a pain.
