Ben Chilwell insists Harry Maguire won't quit Leicester City in January.

Maguire, 25, shone with his performances for England at this summer's World Cup and his stock rose considerably in Russian Federation, convincing United that he could be the man to bolster Jose Mourinho's defence at Old Trafford.

Its the opening day of a new Premiership season and Manchester united play host to Leicester.

The defender has seen his stock rise after his season with the Foxes and also his impressive performances at the World Cup.

"I can confirm he is going to Manchester but only for a couple of hours on Friday night [for the match]", Puel said. He is our best player.

"I am happy to keep Harry of course and all our best players".

The Premier League transfer window may now be closed, but that's not the case in Spain.

"He is a Leicester player, he wants to play for Leicester".

"I scored against United in the derby so it was a good experience and I am looking forward to hopefully doing it again".

"The World Cup helped [He played in all three of Nigeria's games in Russian Federation, starting twice] - we didn't get to go through but it was a good experience and good fitness".

United have signed promising Brazilian midfielder Fred, Portugese right back Diogo Dalot, attacking mid Andreas Pereira and err. veteran 'keeper Lee Grant, but their failure to secure any of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire or Yerry Mina has left a bad taste in the mouth for supporters.

When asked whether a world-record bid for a defender, exceeding the £75m Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk, would tempt Leicester, Puel retained his stance. I'm happy about the attitude of Harry, it's important for him to remain with us, and to bring strong momentum for this season, I'm happy to keep him.
