Captain Marvel will feature Agent Coulson's first super-powered assignment with the top-secret organization, with Gregg recently revealing the film will show the beginnings of his working relationship with Nick Fury.

Captain Marvel, a historic first for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, isn't your average superhero movie. The film is Marvel's first female solo headline title, casting Brie Larson as a former fighter pilot who finds herself imbued with powerful new cosmic abilities, and gets embroiled in an intergalactic war between enemy races the Kree and the Skrulls.

As Nick Fury desperately sent that page to Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, it's clear that she's one of the few people that can help fix the devastating damage on Earth after Thanos' fatal finger snap. "I think I had a life here, but I can't tell if it's real".

"I keep having these memories", she says. "I know a renegade soldier when I see one". It is the 90s and Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury is yet to make his acquaintance with an eye patch, Thanos' finger snap is decades away and Captain America is still in deep freeze. Along with that trailer, Marvel has also released the first poster for the film.

The trailer then moves through a series of rapid shots, and we get glimpses of Lashana Lynch as Carol's Air Force best friend Maria Rambeau, Carol wearing her iconic helmet from the comics, and the return of Lee Pace's Ronan the Accuser from Guardians of the Galaxy. She crashes directly into a Blockbusters Video (RIP), and we see as she attempts to navigate Earth in the 1990's.

Captain Marvel is due for release on 7 March in Australia, and 8 March in the United Kingdom and US.
