‘Final Fantasy VII,’ ‘IX,’ And ‘X’ Coming To Nintendo Switch In 2019

This is the first time any of these games are being released on a Nintendo system. Expect them sometime in 2019.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition had also already been announced, at a PlayStation event earlier in the week, but it will also be coming to Switch next year, complete with online multiplayer and new areas. X-2 Remaster, and Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age will get ports for Nintendo Switch and Xbox One in 2019.

Square Enix took a chance on the Nintendo Switch by releasing a classic-style JRPG called Octopath Traveler as an exclusive for the console.

Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon EVERY BUDDY!, a "return" to the 2007 game Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon, will debut for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 this winter. The big bombshell, though, is that not just one, not two, but a whole airship's worth of the mainline Final Fantasy games are headed to the Switch!

This week's delayed Nintendo Direct has proven to be full of surprises, with a host of Final Fantasy games scheduled to arrive on the Switch this year and next. Perhaps that's a good thing, considering that the game is being given a drastic makeover that will see the adventure play out across several upcoming releases.

Final Fantasy 15: Pocket Edition is kicking off this string of Final Fantasy releases for the Switch, and it is available now.
